Wolf Gloßner | Cross Tower

The sculpture by Wolf Gloßner (born in 1946 in Velburg) was initially placed temporarily in front of an arts-and-crafts dealer’s store at the dealer’s initiative. Eventually, the city purchased it with the support and at the initiative of the Sparkasse and with assistance from the Lower Saxony Lottery Foundation. At first glance, its unassuming size and shape give it a quiet appearance, but it reveals its full impact when viewed up close. Using his characteristic gate motif, the artist created an autonomous object with references to architectural history that appears emotionally charged, crouched, and mysterious. It invites viewers to position themselves in relation to it, to discover different planes and directions.
